On November 8, 2018, the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Collective Security Council (CSTO) session was held in the Palace of Independence State Committee under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan.
The presidents of Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia and the acting Prime Minister of Armenia took part in the meeting of the Council of the CSTO countries.
President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan summed up the results of the country’s chairmanship in the CSTO. According to the head of state, in the military sphere, it was possible to complete the reform of the joint headquarters of the CSTO, the preparation of the full-scale operation of the CSTO crisis response center is being completed. The “Combat Brotherhood – 2018” exercise was held on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
In addition, Kazakhstan’s initiative to adopt a universal code of conduct to achieve a world free of terrorism was implemented, and work continued on countering cyber threats. Attention, according to N.Nazarbayev, was also paid to the fight against drug trafficking. Also, the President of Kazakhstan called on the CSTO countries to intensify production cooperation of defense enterprises.
